New Beginnings - Transition
Dear new families and students,
2024-2025 has been an amazing, albeit unique, transition experience for our community. We opened Stratton School and welcomed Years 7, 8 and 9 as well as our latest cohort of Y12s into the Matt King Sixth Form in September 2024.
We then held an amazing open evening for the current Year 6s across Biggleswade to showcase our amazing secondary offer. We were overwhelmed by the positivity and the support received from this and the highest number of 1st choice applications for an incoming cohort.
We are now a Year 7 (and Y12) entry point school. We no longer have phase transfer entry at Year 9 and as such, we will only onboard new students into Years 7 and 12 in September 2025.

Stratton School – A new name, but a school steeped in History!
2024 saw us admit Years 7 and 8 for the first time since 1973 as Central Bedfordshire aligned to the Primary and Secondary model removing the 3 tier system. However, although Stratton School opened ‘officially’ this year, we have served the community of Biggleswade and surrounding villages since 1950. Previously known as Stratton Upper School and Stratton (Grammar) School, there is a rich history of education and we are incredibly proud of our Old Strattonians (alumni).
