The Matt King 6th Form is committed to serve its local community of Biggleswade and surrounding villages.

That said, we welcome applications from all schools across the Central Bedfordshire network of learning institutions.

Admissions (External to Stratton School)

Entry to the MK6  will not be determined by a formal interview, but an informal guidance meeting will be held to advise students on appropriate course selection. A written reference will be sought from your current school as to the suitability of the course and level being considered.

From September 2027 students will be admitted into Year 12 with an agreed Admission number of 200 students.

This will be reviewed on an annual basis in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) and evaluating the demographic demand.

All applicants must meet the minimum Entry requirements to study a Level 3 suite of qualifications at Stratton School.

The applicant’s overall combination of subjects at GCSE/vocational or equivalent qualifications provides a suitable foundation for progression onto their chosen A level programme.

The reference or supporting information provided by the applicant’s school or college indicates no significant concern regarding their record of attendance, fitness to study a full-time course, punctuality, general behaviour, attitude to study or aptitude for the proposed course of study.

We reserve the right to withdraw an offer of a place if false information is supplied at any time In the event of oversubscription, the following criteria is applied:

1. Looked after children and previously looked after children including those that appear to the school to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be so as a result of being adopted.

2. Children of staff currently employed at the school.

3. Children with siblings at the school who will still be attending the school at the proposed date of admission.

4. Children living closest to the school measured on straight line distance.

Parents and students have a right to appeal against any decision refusing a Sixth Form place in a school with a Sixth Form. Appeals must be heard by an independent panel within 40 school days of the appeal being lodged.
