Academic Mentoring at Stratton School
Academic Mentoring is a unique Meridian Trust initiative that ensures every student benefits from regular, dedicated one-to-one mentoring sessions with their tutor throughout the school year.
During these conversations, students review their progress and achievement data, celebrate successes, identify any barriers to learning, and discuss strategies to meet or exceed their targets. Mentoring sessions also provide valuable opportunities to explore future aspirations, careers, next steps, and personal development goals.
Academic Mentoring embodies our commitment to ensuring every student is Known, Valued and Supported. By providing protected time for meaningful individual discussions, tutors build strong relationships with students, helping them feel understood, encouraged and empowered to achieve their full potential.
To strengthen the partnership between school and home, all Academic Mentoring sessions are logged on MCAS (My Child at School). Families can view mentoring records, discussion points and agreed targets, creating a transparent and collaborative approach to supporting student success. This ensures an ongoing dialogue between the tutor, student and family, enabling everyone to work together to celebrate achievements, address challenges and support progress towards ambitious goals.
This personalised approach is a distinctive feature of the Meridian Trust experience, placing student success, wellbeing and ambition at the heart of school life.
