A Level History - Annual visit to Auschwitz Memorial Museum & Birkenau Extermination Camp, Poland.

Date Published

Earlier this month, Mr Macwhinnie, our Head of History, accompanied Alannah, Angel, Chloe & Lily from Year 12 on the Holocaust Education Trust’s annual visit to the ‘Auschwitz Memorial Museum & Birkenau Extermination Camp’ in Poland.

This poignant visit to a site of global historical significance was another moment in the History department’s long term vision of connecting students with sensitive histories and offering once in a lifetime opportunities to our most dedicated historians.

Mr Macwhinnie noted that our Sixth Form students represented Stratton School with the highest standards of conduct throughout this project, attending lectures in London with the privilege of meeting a Holocaust survivor as well as now working on the ‘next steps’ project to design new ways which we can enhance our Holocaust teaching at Stratton School.

This project will return next academic year for Year 12 historians so please do keep an eye out for the 2025/2026 trip!
